Jyothirmayi began her acting career as an artist in television serials. Indraneelam is one of her well-known tele-series. Jyothirmayi appeared in some telefilms as well, but failed to make a mark. Jyothirmayi’s first film in the silver screen was Pilots, in which she played a minor role. The film was not successful at the box office. Jyothirmayi first big hit was the film Savanna. After Jyothirmayi’s film Meesha Madhavan released and went on to become a huge hit, she entered the top slot of the sought-after actresses. Since then, Jyothirmayi has acted in various films in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English. Jyothirmayi has acted opposite most of the celebrated actors of Malayalam film industry including Mohanlal and Mammootty, and also opposite superstars like Sathyaraj, Vijaykanth and the like.
